Associate Director - Health and Safety

The project\: 

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment, and arts along with all associated infrastructure.

Responsible for the operational leadership of health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) in a designated business/portfolio of work.

Accountable for influencing, building, maintaining, and strengthening internal and external stakeholder relationships and, where applicable, leading and developing teams.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Lead the development and execution of the health and safety strategy.
• Align project HSE goals with Mace’s global standards and our client’s sustainability and cultural vision.
• Collaborate with the client, design consultants, contractors, and government bodies to ensure unified safety protocols.
• Conduct and oversee risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation planning.
• Lead risk assessments, method statements, and safety audits across all phases of construction.
• Provide strategic guidance to contractors and subcontractors on HSE performance and improvement.
• Monitor and report on KPIs, safety metrics, and performance dashboards to senior leadership.
• Manage incident investigations and reporting, ensuring lessons learned are shared and applied.

You’ll need to have:

• Degree or equivalent experience in health, safety, and well-being.
• Chartered membership with a recognised HSW body.
• Proven leadership in complex HSW environments.
• Middle East experience and strong knowledge of legislation, risk, and assurance systems.
