Job Title: Engineer, Safety (RSO)
Key Accountabilities:
A. Safety Compliance Monitoring
• Conduct inspections, audits, and assessments of hazards and unsafe conditions at mine sites.
B. Radiation Risk Management
• Identify, analyze, and manage risks including chemical, physical, biological, and radiation hazards.
• Develop and evaluate procedures to improve controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
• Support root cause investigations of safety or radiation related incidents, ensuring corrective/preventive actions are identified and implemented.
C. Regulatory Oversight & Permit Management
• Oversee all radiation safety regulatory requirements for the site.
• Maintain all radiation permits and ensure alignment with national regulatory authorities
• Coordinate with internal and external regulators during inspections, audits, and compliance verification related to safety or radiation protection.
D. Project Support & Advisory Role
• Advise project teams on all radiation related matters throughout project stages.
• Review project documentation to ensure compliance with national and international radiation protection standards.
E. Reporting & Documentation
• Document findings from inspections, monitoring, and site assessments.
• Submit reports to relevant stakeholders, including deviations and recommended
Qualifications:
B.A. or B.Sc. in engineering and holder of Nuclear Gauges RSO certification
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in any field that involves safety and radiation protection
Skills:
• English language proficiency (oral and written)
• Technical aspects of radiation protection & safety field and knowledge of NRRC and other radiation protection authorities as well as knowledge of SAIS safety directives
