Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Fire Life Safety Engineer (Saudi National) to join our team! In this role you will get to ensure the design, integration, and maintenance of fire and life safety systems across airport facilities. This includes fire detection, suppression, and evacuation systems, ensuring the safety and compliance of airport infrastructure, and contributing to the safe operation of the airport environment .

Fire Life Safety System Design & Implementation:

  • Design, plan, and implement fire safety systems for airport facilities, including fire detection and alarm systems, fire suppression systems, smoke control, emergency lighting, and evacuation systems.

  • Develop fire safety strategies and system designs to ensure the safety of airport passengers, staff, and infrastructure, while complying with all local, national, and international fire safety codes and standards.

System Integration & Coordination:

  • Coordinate the integration of fire life safety systems with other building systems, such as HVAC, electrical, and emergency power systems, to ensure seamless operation.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other project teams to ensure that fire safety systems are effectively integrated into the overall design of the airport infrastructure.

Compliance & Regulatory Standards:

  • Ensure all fire life safety designs comply with relevant regulations, including NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), local fire codes, and airport-specific safety standards.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest fire safety regulations and standards, and ensure systems are in compliance with evolving laws and regulations.

Fire Safety Risk Assessment & Mitigation:

  • Conduct fire risk assessments for airport facilities, identifying potential hazards and developing strategies to mitigate risks to life and property.

  • Lead fire safety audits and inspections to ensure that systems are fully operational and compliant with safety standards.

  • Develop and implement fire safety plans and emergency response protocols.

System Testing & Commissioning:

  • Oversee the testing, commissioning, and certification of fire life safety systems to ensure they meet performance specifications.

  • Work closely with contractors and vendors to verify that systems are installed correctly, tested, and meet all required codes and standards.

Emergency Preparedness & Training:

  • Develop and implement fire and emergency evacuation drills for airport personnel.

  • Provide training for airport staff on fire safety procedures, emergency protocols, and the operation of fire life safety systems.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of fire life safety systems, designs, maintenance records, and testing results.

  • Prepare regular reports on the status of fire life safety systems, system performance, and compliance with safety regulations.

  • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements for audits and inspections.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

  • Liaise with airport authorities, regulatory bodies, and contractors to ensure the smooth implementation and ongoing compliance of fire life safety systems.

  • Provide updates and communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fire life safety engineering, with at least 3 years working on large-scale infrastructure or airport projects.

    • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining fire safety systems, including fire detection, suppression, and emergency evacuation systems.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • In-depth knowledge of fire safety systems, codes, and standards (e.g., NFPA, local fire codes, FAA regulations).

    • Familiarity with airport-specific fire safety needs and challenges.

    • Strong understanding of fire risk assessment, fire protection strategies, and emergency response planning.

    • Proficiency with fire safety design and simulation software (e.g., FDS, PyroSim, AutoCAD).

    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly address system malfunctions and emergencies.

    • Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Fire Protection Engineering (e.g., Certified Fire Protection Specialist – CFPS).

  • Experience with fire safety systems in aviation environments or transportation infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of building information modeling (BIM) and fire life safety design software.

  • Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is a plus.
