Main Responsibilities:
Safety:
- Assess the level to which SMS provisions are effective and satisfy THC’s strategic business requirements across P121 operations.
- Conduct periodic safety and quality audits in conjunction Quality team to ensure SMS requirements are being achieved.
- Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment across all aspects of P121 activities and the wider business.
- Manage through to completion all safety and issue reports received under P121 operations.
- Lead investigation of accidents associated with P121 operations and document the outcomes within required reports and action plans.
- Coordinate occurrence and hazard investigations associated with P121 operations.
- Lead the development of Safety Cases for all P121 operations and identify priority areas for the development of risk controls.
- Assist in the maintenance and management of the THC Hazard/Risk Register.
- Monitor, assess, and assure the effectiveness of safety risk controls identified under P121 operations.
- Monitor corrective/preventative actions across the P121 organization and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Assist in the development, execution, and maintenance of vigorous and dynamic Safety Programs at all Bases/Deployments.
- Ensuring safety promotion throughout the P121 organization and wider business.
- Provide analysis and reporting of SMS performance within P121 operations.
- Participate in Management meetings at which the adequacy of the SMS is reviewed.
- Participate in Safety Meetings on a regular basis, provide minutes of meetings and record action outcomes for tracking.
- Assist other Safety Managers within the business in fulfillment of their responsibilities.
- Regularly report to the Director of Safety on the performance of the SMS within Part P121 and on any need for improvement.
Leadership:
- Consistently demonstrate personal behavior that reinforces the Safety and Quality policy and THC’s stated Values.
- Aid a ‘just and learning’ culture within the deployment through appropriate statements and reactions to occurrences.
- Develop a focused safety culture within all departments, with particular emphasis within P121 operations.
- Monitor staff achievements, perform periodic performance appraisals, and provide guidance, coaching or training to direct reports in performing their delegated duties
- Demonstrate a disciplined approach to safety priorities, time management, task management, and actions tracking for achievement of high performance and on-time delivery.
- Provide mentoring and improvement programs for direct reports within the safety organization.
- Ensure all work delivered under his/her responsibility meets agreed standards for timeliness and quality.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to work and information.
- Provide open and honest feedback on perceptions regarding Management’s commitment to SMS.
Qualifications:
• Hold an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) for Air Operators.
• Certificate course in Safety Management System qualification.
• Certificate course in Aviation Auditor qualification.
• Certificate course in aircraft accident investigation qualification.
• Certificate course in Aviation Human Factors.
• Certificate course in Audit Techniques.
• Certificate course in Quality Management System.
• Certificate course in Emergency Response Plan/Crisis Management.
• Certificate course in Safety Risk Management.
Experience & Skills:
• 7 years of experience in the aviation field and 3 years in a management capacity.
• 3 years of proven experience in aviation safety field in similar operations being conducted.
• Experience as Safety Manager in an organization conducting similar operations.
• Previous operating experience within the helicopter SAR/EMS field (preferred).
• Proven experience in effective team management.
• High degree of knowledge within aviation risk-management principles, methods, and execution. • Operational experience related to the services provided under THC’s Part P121 AOC.
• Technical knowledge sufficient to demonstrate a solid understanding of SMS within THC’s field of operations.
• Familiar with GACARs or other (FAA/EASA) regulations.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience in project management disciplines and skills.
• Management and leadership skills for delivering high performance from direct reports.
• Excellent report writing and document presentation skills.
• High level of proficiency within MS Office suite applications.
• Highly capable and adaptable to IT database systems and operating systems utilized within THC.
• Possess good work habits, team-oriented, disciplined, punctual, and focused on strategies of continual improvement.
• Highly organized, process and task-oriented, problem-solving skills, and communications skills.
