WSP is seeking a qualified Health and Safety Officer with experience in construction supervision, inspection, testing and commissioning. This role is based in Riyadh and involves overseeing health and safety compliance across a major project.
The ideal candidate will be a Saudi national with strong knowledge of HSE regulations and practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols in alignment with WSP’s HSEQ Management System.
- Develop, review, and update HSE policies, procedures, and documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and safety plans.
- Oversee and guide the HSE team in monitoring site-level safety practices to ensure compliance with legal, client, and company standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify that safety measures are in place and effective.
- Organize and facilitate weekly joint HSE inspections with contractors and other stakeholders, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
- Coordinate and evaluate emergency response plans, ensuring drills are conducted as per schedule and performance criteria.
- Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly HSE reports in collaboration with contractor teams and share with the client.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., PCFC, EHS) and represent WSP in all HSE matters.
- Deliver HSE training and awareness programs to staff and contractors to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Advise project management on HSE risks, compliance issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives in health, safety, and environmental performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum NEBOSH IGC certification is required; additional certifications (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001) are highly desirable.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction HSE roles, with proven leadership and management experience.
- Strong communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Must be registered with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) in Health & Safety
