Job Summary: 

The HSSE Engineer is a key member of the corporate HSSE team at K&A’s headquarter. He supports the development and enforcement of corporate HSSE policies, procedures, tools and templates across K&A. He conducts HSSE audits to ensure the compliance of departments and supervision teams with the organization’s HSSE policies and procedures. The jobholder also supports the delivery of HSSE training and awareness sessions to K&A staff, as needed.

Key Responsibilities (Financial)

• Ensure responsibilities are fulfilled with a high quality cost-effectively

Key Responsibilities (Customer Focus)

• Support with the capture of feedback and suggestions on corporate HSSE policies and procedures from regional and local HSSE Units through periodic meetings
• Support the development of corporate HSSE training courses and training materials for all K&A offices
• Support Senior HSSE Engineers with the delivery of HSSE training sessions (e.g. on corporate HSSE and procedures, HSSE audits, etc.) for HSSE Engineers in regional / local HSSE Sections, as needed
• Participate in the delivery of HSSE training and awareness sessions for the headquarter staff as well as for the Levant & Qatar Region, as required
• Support Regional and local HSSE Units with HSSE audit activities, as needed

Key Responsibilities (Internal Business Process)

• Support the development and update of corporate HSSE policies and procedures
• Support the adaptation of corporate HSSE policies and procedures to comply with local requirements across K&A offices within the Levant & Qatar Region in coordination with local / regional HSSE Units, as needed
• Work with corporate and regional HSSE teams on the development and implementation of action plans to achieve HSSE certification targets (e.g. ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) across K&A offices, as needed
• Participate in the development of the annual HSSE audit program across K&A’s Regions and Geographies
• Support Senior HSSE Engineers with the definition of audit standards, checklists, standard audit findings reports and corrective action report templates
• Conduct periodic HSSE audits in the headquarter and the Levant & Qatar Region to check the compliance of K&A offices with HSSE policies and procedures, as per the annual audit plan
• Identify HSSE non-conformance issues, summarize findings in periodic HSSE audit reports and develop corrective action plans and reports for addressing identified HSSE non-conformances in the headquarter and Levant & Qatar Region
• Review and consolidate HSSE audit finding reports from regional and local HSSE Units into a consolidated K&A HSSE audit findings report
• Provide input for the preparation of periodic HSSE performance reports, highlighting key HSSE issues across the organization and proposing corporate HSSE initiatives to address apparent HSSE non-conformance patterns across K&A
• Develop and update a corporate database of HSSE audits and findings in coordination with regional and local HSSE Sections
• Implement corporate policies and procedures

Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 Internal Auditor
• Knowledge of HSSE compliance requirements and audit programs is preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Strong analytical capabilities
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage

Overall Experience Required to Execute this Role

• 3+ years of experience in an HSSE function, preferably in the Architecture, Engineering and Planning Industry

Specific Experience Required to Execute this Role

• Experience with enforcement of HSSE policies, procedures and tools is preferred
• Experience with executing HSSE audits
• Experience with delivering HSSE training programs
