Job Description

  • Conduct routine laboratory safety inspections, risk assessments as applicable
  • Monitor hazardous chemical management system as per applicable legal & other requirements
  • Monitor, review, and maintain laboratory-specific safety procedures as applicable
  • Ensure that Incident Investigation is in place across laboratories and the availability of necessary records
  • Monitor & coordinate potential emergency preparedness response within the scope of laboratory activities
  • Provide laboratory safety training, inductions, and refresher programs for staff, contractors, interns, and visitors.
  • Ensure availability, suitability, and correct use of PPE based on risk management
  • Conduct laboratory safety audits, inspections, and regulatory authority visits wherever required
  • Monitor & manage University Chemical Management System (UCMS) Project in co-ordination with OHS Manager & relevant stakeholders as applicable.
  • Participate in safety awareness campaigns and promote a proactive laboratory safety culture.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in laboratory safety, HSE, or regulated laboratory environments.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety regulations, chemical safety, biosafety, and waste management practices.
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and relevant local regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with MSDS/SDS management, chemical compatibility, and emergency spill response.
  • Professional certifications in Laboratory Safety, HSE, or related fields (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and safety reporting tools
  • Familiarity with Ministry of Education (MOE) guidelines, ADOSH codes,  Civil Defence codes and other relevant local authority regulations.
