Description

The Officer EHS is responsible for executing, maintaining, and reviewing Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) practices and procedures in coordination with internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities. The role ensures a safe and healthy working environment for AD AIRPORTS employees and contractors, while providing oversight of the implementation and maintenance of safe work procedures across AD AIRPORTS premises.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence and compliance with OSHAD, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 requirements and maintain organizational documentation in line with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and system audits; prepare reports identifying potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Undertake risk assessments and prepare Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
  • Provide safety promotion and education services; identify, coordinate, and deliver appropriate Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs.
  • Participate in OHS Committees and provide guidance on incident and accident investigations; assist in major accident investigations as required.
  • Support managers, senior officers, and staff in improving health and safety practices and addressing specific safety issues.
  • Maintain a central register of reported incidents, injuries, and hazard statistics.
  • Ensure hazardous substances are correctly identified at each worksite and maintain an up-to-date hazardous substances register and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in coordination with department managers.
  • Monitor and measure work environments and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
  • Support the EHS Manager and liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders, including:
    • Department of Municipalities and Transport
    • OSHAD
    • GCAA
    • EAD
    • FANR
    • Etihad
    • Third-party certification bodies
    • Other stakeholders and contractors

 

Requirements and Skills

Core Competencies

  • Ability to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain organizational documentation.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard identification.
  • Ability to conduct safety inspections and audits and prepare detailed reports.
  • Capability to implement and support safety training programs.
  • Effective communication and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).
  • Environment, Health and Safety Auditing Certification or equivalent auditing qualification.
  • Aerodrome/Aviation-specific courses related to EHS, auditing, compliance, or regulatory frameworks.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant EHS experience.
  • Experience in EHS incident investigation and reporting.
  • Experience in assessing workplace hazards.
  • Knowledge of national and international environment, safety, and security regulations.
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry.
