Principal Safety Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Safety Engineer in Muscat to lead technical safety engineering activities for brownfield oil and gas projects. The role supports safe, compliant project delivery from front-end engineering through detailed design, construction, commissioning and start-up.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical safety engineering activities and maintain the quality and integrity of HSSE deliverables.
• Identify, assess and mitigate process-safety, loss-prevention and operational risks across the asset lifecycle.
• Plan and coordinate discipline resources, schedules, estimates and project deliverables.
• Lead hazard studies and safety reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP and SIL activities.
• Review technical HSE reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and third-party teams.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and start-up site activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in process engineering, safety engineering, chemical engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• At least 15 years of brownfield oil and gas technical safety engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of process safety, fire and gas detection, loss prevention and emergency-response design.
• Experience with quantitative risk assessment, consequence modelling and risk-management studies.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and complex project stakeholders.
• Professional engineering registration is preferred, and Middle East oil and gas experience is an advantage.
