Safety Assurance Officer

Synopsis

The Safety Assurance Officer reports directly to the Manager Safety Risk and Assurance and is responsible for providing analytical services to the Safety Assurance section ensuring the timely reporting of any significant safety assurance issues, deficiencies and non-compliances which lower safety standards in operations.

Accountabilities

• Coordinating, preparing and securing quality control of safety data packs for the Safety Review Board, Post Holder Meetings, Business Review Meetings, and Safety Action Groups. 
•  Providing intelligence and information on safety performance throughout Operations Division which assists the development and implementation of strategies for continuous improvement of operational safety performance necessary to achieve and exceed regulatory compliance. 
• Producing monthly safety performance reports and ensuring readiness to provide justifications for conclusions and recommendations made.
• Developing and managing control charts for Safety Performance Indicators as a part of the Safety Assurance component of the Etihad Airways SMS ensuring accuracy of data used for statistical analysis and trending. Analyzing the patterns for deviations using the control alerts set. 
• Developing presentational briefing material for SPIs and other safety assurance activities when required.
• Preparing and ensuring the timely submission to the GCAA of the actual performance against SPIs, Alerts and Targets by use of Quarterly Safety Performance Monitoring Reports along with other statistical data required for the GCAA. 
• Developing and managing close contact with key stakeholders throughout operational line management to ensure that the SPI methodology is fully embedded. 
•  Acting as the focal point of contact within S&Q to receive, track and make monthly submissions to the Departmental and Corporate Balanced Scorecards. 
• Providing safety data analytical services in support of other safety assurance and risk management activities when required. 
• Leading and ensuring the completion of root cause analyses and oversee the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitoring and evaluating key Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and safety assurance metrics to track organizational safety performance.
• Maintaining continuous oversight of the Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure compliance, effectiveness, and ongoing improvement.

Education & Experience

• Degree level education required, preferred engineering degree, Electrical, Mechanical, aerospace and / or Maintenance Engineer License. 
•  Minimum 4 years work experience, preferred analytical skills. e.g. auditing in a safety/regulatory environment or accounts
