Description

A Safety Officer in Facility Management is responsible for ensuring that buildings, workplaces, and facilities are safe for occupants, employees, contractors, and visitors. The role focuses on preventing accidents, maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture.



Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws and company policies.
  • Develop and enforce safety procedures and emergency response plans.
  • Organize fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency preparedness training.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment and facilities are safe.
  • Maintain safety records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Deliver safety training and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Risk assessment and hazard identification.
  • Emergency response and incident management.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Report writing and documentation.
  • Problem-solving and attention to detail.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Safety certifications such as:
    • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)
    • IOSH Managing Safely
    • OSHA Safety Certification
    • First Aid and Fire Safety certifications (often preferred)
