Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and vigilant Safety Officer with proven experience in chemical plant operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety awareness, and implementing risk control measures to prevent workplace accidents and occupational hazards. The role demands strong knowledge of chemical handling protocols, process safety management, and statutory compliance.


Main Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety programs in compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments within plant facilities.

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals in accordance with environmental and safety standards.

  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents to identify causes and recommend corrective actions.

  • Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to employees and contractors on safe work practices and emergency procedures.

  • Maintain up-to-date safety documentation, permits, and compliance records as per legal requirements.

  • Collaborate with plant operations, maintenance, and production teams to address safety concerns and reduce hazards.

  • Monitor usage and maintenance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

  • Coordinate with statutory authorities during safety inspections and audits.

  • Lead emergency response drills, fire safety training, and evacuation planning.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering or Science with a specialisation in Safety, Environment, or Industrial Safety.

  • Mandatory: Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute (as per Factories Act / State Rules).

  • Certification in First Aid, Fire Safety, and HAZMAT handling will be an added advantage.

Skills Required

  • In-depth knowledge of chemical plant safety standards, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.

  • Strong understanding of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).

  • Excellent communication and training delivery skills.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigations.

  • Ability to handle emergency situations with calmness and efficiency.

  • Computer literacy for maintaining safety records and preparing reports.
