The project:

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment and arts along with all associated infrastructure.

Mace is one of the delivery partners requiring high-calibre and experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.

The role:

Mace is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Manager to support the delivery of a large-scale infrastructure programme in KSA. This role will lead the implementation and assurance of health, safety and wellbeing standards across complex roads, highways and associated infrastructure works.

Working as part of the delivery partner team, you will provide leadership and oversight to ensure all construction activities are delivered in line with Mace HSW standards and regulatory requirements, while fostering a strong and proactive safety culture across a multi-contractor environment.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Manage the development and delivery of Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) strategies across major infrastructure packages including roads, highways and utilities.
  • Oversee contractor HSE performance, including audits, inspections, incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture, embedding behavioural safety, visible leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve contractor method statements, risk assessments, traffic management and logistics strategies.
  • Interface with project stakeholders to ensure alignment on HSE expectations, risks and performance standards.
  • Monitor and report on HSE KPIs, trends and leading indicators, providing clear insights to senior leadership.
  • Manage the investigation of significant incidents, ensuring robust root cause analysis and lessons learned implementation.
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental considerations are embedded into design, planning and construction phases.

You’ll need to have:

  • Degree qualified in Health and Safety, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH (Chartered preferred) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in HSE roles, with strong exposure to roads, highways and infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience within a PMC, consultancy or major programme environment.
  • Strong understanding of international HSE standards and KSA regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record managing complex, multi-contractor construction environments.
  • Experience delivering HSE on large-scale or mega infrastructure programmes within the GCC (KSA preferred).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (Arabic advantageous).
  • Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and have relevant work experience working on high-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval.
