About the Project

We are building a team of country specialists to support an AI content safety and moderation project for a global technology company.

The project involves reviewing existing content-safety guidelines and ensuring they appropriately reflect the laws, cultural context, religious considerations and social norms of specific countries.

This is not a translation role. We are looking for someone who can research, interpret and apply country-specific requirements and translate these into clear, practical content-safety guidance.

Key Tasks

  • Review and enhance existing country-specific content safety and moderation guidelines to reflect local laws, cultural sensitivities, religious norms and country context.

  • Research relevant local laws, regulations, published cases and credible sources across areas such as religion, politics, discrimination, adult content, violence, terrorism, illegal content and other cultural or ethical sensitivities.

  • Identify which local rules apply, where existing guidelines have gaps, and recommend clear, evidence-based modifications.

  • Define key content risks and apply the project's severity framework: Neutral, Minor, Strong and Critical.

  • Develop realistic, locally relevant examples and edge cases showing how different content should be classified, supported by reliable sources where applicable.

  • Participate in guideline reviews with the project team, explain recommendations, and help resolve and document ambiguous or previously undefined cases.

What We're Looking For

  • Native or near-native proficiency, with strong current knowledge of one/all these Middle-East Countries (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Iraq) and their culture and local context.

  • Strong written and spoken English.

  • Experience in Trust & Safety, content policy, public policy, regulatory or legal research, digital safety, platform governance, risk/compliance, or a closely related field.

  • Strong research skills, including the ability to identify credible sources, interpret complex information and distinguish between law, regulatory guidance, cultural norms and interpretation.

  • Excellent analytical judgement, structured reasoning and written communication.

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with sensitive content, ambiguous policy questions and complex edge cases.

  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work within tight project timelines.

Relevant Professional Backgrounds

Candidates may currently or previously have held roles such as:

Trust & Safety Policy Analyst | Content Policy Specialist | Country Policy Specialist | Policy Enforcement Specialist | Public Policy Analyst | Regulatory Researcher | Digital Policy Analyst | Content Moderation Policy Specialist | Digital Safety Researcher | Legal Researcher | Risk & Compliance Analyst

Relevant experience may come from technology companies, social media or digital platforms, content moderation operations, telecoms, regulatory or policy consultancies, law firms, government/regulatory bodies, digital safety organisations, research institutes or similar environments.

Assessment Process

Shortlisted candidates will complete a short Country Policy Analysis assessment designed to evaluate their skill level. Open-web research will be permitted as part of the assessment.

Engagement

This is a short-term consultancy supporting a time-sensitive project. We are looking for individuals who can start at short notice, commit sufficient availability during the project period, work independently against agreed deliverables, and participate in review or calibration sessions when required.
