Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HSE Officer (Roads O&M) to join our team in Lusail, Qatar. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance in our roads operations and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset and a collaborative approach to maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental protection.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies and procedures for roads operations and maintenance projects
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement effective corrective actions
  • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures
  • Provide thorough HSE training and guidance to employees, contractors, and visitors on site
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international HSE regulations and standards, with a focus on Qatar-specific requirements
  • Develop and maintain efficient environmental management systems to minimize the environmental impact of road maintenance activities
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and supervisors to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution
  • Prepare and present detailed HSE performance reports to management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement
  • Manage and maintain organized HSE documentation, including permits, certifications, and training records
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging HSE trends in roads operations and maintenance, implementing innovative solutions where appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • NEBOSH certification or equivalent HSE qualification
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in an HSE role, preferably in roads operations and maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly those applicable to road construction and maintenance in Qatar
  • Proven proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and reporting techniques
  • Strong understanding of construction safety and traffic management principles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make efficient and informed decisions
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and HSE management software
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various project sites as needed
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local environmental regulations in Qatar
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Valid Qatar driving license
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels
