Role Summary
The EHS Senior Engineer is responsible for leading and implementing Environment, Health and Safety management systems across Power Transmission & Distribution construction projects in Oman. The role ensures compliance with corporate EHS standards, client requirements, Omani regulations, and international best practices. The incumbent drives proactive risk management, promotes a strong safety culture, and supports the achievement of zero harm objectives through effective planning, monitoring, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor project-specific EHS plans, procedures, and risk control measures.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, client specifications, and company EHS management systems.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, hazard identification, and risk assessments for transmission lines, substations, and associated construction activities.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor safety performance and ensure compliance with project EHS requirements.
- Organize toolbox talks, safety campaigns, inductions, and awareness programs.
- Review work permits, method statements, and job safety analyses before execution.
- Track EHS performance indicators and prepare periodic reports for management and clients.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and ensure availability of emergency response resources.
- Promote environmental protection measures including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation.
Key Interactions
Internal: Project Manager, Construction Managers, Planning Engineers, QA/QC Team, HR, Procurement, and Site Supervisors to ensure safe project execution and compliance.
External: Clients, Consultants, Government Authorities, Contractors, Subcontractors, and Auditors for regulatory compliance, inspections, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum Qualifications: Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science. NEBOSH IGC mandatory; additional HSE certifications preferred.
Language Skills: Fluent in English; Arabic knowledge is advantageous.
Experience: Minimum 8-12 years of EHS experience in construction projects, including at least 5 years in Power Transmission & Distribution projects involving substations, overhead transmission lines, and electrical infrastructure.
